Broadcasters are urged to be more cautious with their press releases as recent scandals that involve the Queengate affair and Paul Watson's documentary film made headlines. PR strategies are being devised so as to be more realistic to boost broadcasting credibilty, with particular regard to documentary films and their makers.

BBC sets up pounds sterling 62m redundancy fund

In order to meet the redundancy payouts under layoff plans covering 3,780 jobs, BBC has set apart 62 million pounds sterling. Information to this effect is presented in BBC's annual report. Bectu, Amicus and NUJ will be meeting BBC to discuss the layoff plans suggested by Mark Thompson.

Commissioners 'need training'

Research Centre brought out a report "Inside the Commissioners" which stated that poorly trained commissioners are spoiling the relation between broadcasters and indies. They play a critical role and should be trained in a structured manner.
