Article Abstract:
Virginia Bottomley, National Heritage Secretary, wholeheartedly supports the media polices introduced by the Conservative government, particularly those which have prevented cross-media ownership. She is pleased that during her time in office the introduction of digital terrestrial television into the United Kingdom has been made possible. Bottomley predicts that after the year 2000 several media related issues will need careful consideration such as the maintenance of standards in programs and the prevention of communication and media monopolies.
