What's the story with Euronews?
Article Abstract:
Pan-European news channel Euronews has suffered considerable difficulties since its launch in 1993. Its losses have totalled FFr230 million so far, and it is expected to make further losses of FFr15 million in 1998. However, the channel's output has improved substantially since a 49% stake was purchased by ITN in Nov 1997. Euronews has expanded its coverage, and can now be received by more than 91 million households through cable, terrestrial and satellite. Some observers believe that Euronews will continue to struggle because it is too anonymous.
