Yard opens doors on Irish facilities boom
Article Abstract:
Ireland is expected to see a strong rise in television post-production activity. This has prompted the creation by The Yard, a company founded by Laurence Fee, Peter O'Hara and Liam Cabot, of the country's first fully digital facility. The company will base its activities around digital video and audio routing switchers, and will operate two digital edit suites mastering onto Digital Betacam and D1 tape.

A survey was conducted and it was found that in-house facilities, which included studios and broadcasters, were rated the highest by a large margin, along with editing, grading etc. The Farm emerged as having the best facility available, along with a number of others.

Buying decisions and selling their facilities by the post-production houses are today more dependent on the price factor, with quality a tag behind. These facilities are rated by the clients in the order of talent, cost and then service.
