Yentob warns Smith over digital plans

BBC director of drama, entertainment and children's Alan Yentob has said that if media secretary Smith blocks the plans for new digital channels, the corporation will appeal to Parliament for approval. The BBC is planning to create digital services for both television and radio.

Smith warns BBC over charter risk
Article Abstract:
According to Chris Smith, media secretary, the charter of the BBC could be changed if a decline in ratings for its 22.00 news occurs. Additionally, the charter is at risk if the 21.00 slot is not reinstated. This charter is scheduled for renewal in the year 2006.
