ANZAC WIP scrapped
Article Abstract:
The Australian Dept of Defence (DoD) has announced the cancellation of the Royal Australia Navy's $1.3-billion Anzac Warfighting Improvement Programme. Instead, the DoD said that it will enhance the anti-ship missile defense (ASMD) capability of the eight 3,600-ton frigates. The WIP involves a two-tier capability upgrade in ASMD and anti-air warfare, with embedded upgrade paths to an additioana two capability tiers, cooperative engagement capability and theatre ballistic missile defense.

Naval shipbuilding in Europe: a case for consolidation
Article Abstract:
Despite a drop in orders, the naval shipbuilding industry in Europe has kept their strong national identities. However, Professor Keith Hartley says that consolidation in the European warship building sector is needed as the continent moves towards greater integration.
