Airborne laser gets funds
Article Abstract:
Congress will likely restore most, if not all, of the $92 million that the Air Force cut from its Airborne Laser (ABL) program to pay off operational bills by the time it wraps up defense spending and authorization bills later in 2000. The Senate version of both authorization and fund allocation bills have added $92 million back to the ABL program, while the House versions of these bills have added back about $82 million to the ABL account. Senate aides say that the money is needed to keep the ABL program on track at least through its first planned interceptor test.
