Arrests of Western converts indicate new security fears
Article Abstract:
The recent arrest of a 31-year-old Australian taxi driver, a convert to Islam, in Melbourne on suspicion of being an aid to Al-Qaeda has underlined the U.S. and European security service fears. The security services are alarmed over the recruitment of native Westerners by Islamic militants who can blend into communities and cross borders without fear of detection to carry out surveillance or terrorist attacks.

Article Abstract:
The 9/11/01 terrorist attacks in the US brought about a widespread international investigation. Indications are that the six leaders arrived in the US in 2000, while 13 others, to be used in passenger control, arrived shortly before the hijacking. There have also been extensive arrests in Europe.
