US ballistic missile defense
Article Abstract:
The U.S. Missile Defense Agency (MDA) is moving ahead to meet President George W. Bush's December 2000 directive to deploy a set of initial missile defense capabilities, like ground-based interceptors (GBIs), beginning in 2004. The missile defense proponents describe that the rush to deploy is more driven by strategic imperatives than political necessity.
