Combat administration from the sea: Lessons from Kosovo
Article Abstract:
The air campaign on Kosovo, Yugoslavia, unearthed issues for the Marine Corp regarding how to perform administration within an operational environment. As the Corps explores the ability to send expeditionary units hundreds of miles inland to achieve military objectives, it will gradually lose the capacity to avail of the ship-based suppor upon which it typically relies. Thus, the service must address the issue of how to support such expeditionary forces without degrading operational flexibility.
