Bell-Boeing Osprey begins OPEVAL phase
Article Abstract:
Bell-Boeing Corp has started a seven-month operational evaluation (OPEVAL) of its MV-22B Osprey tiltrotor aircraft upon completion of the engineering and manufacturing development phase. The OPEVAL will determine if MV-22B is ready for fleet service. It is being conducted by the Multiservice Operational Test Team, which is composed of Marine Corps and Air Force pilots, aircrewmen, maintenance technicians, operations analysts, and engineers.

Congress, DoD balance industrial base support, acquisition priorities
Article Abstract:
U.S. congress plans to launch a new study of the U.S. industrial base in 2005 that will align to produce capabilities the military requires. In short time officials in the DoD and the Navy are developing acquisition strategies that attempt to strike a balance between industrial base support and an emerging set of warfighting requirements.
