China is maintaining a neutral position on Sudan as it is balancing its own economic priorities with its international commitments. With a desire to create an image of an internationally responsible state, China has deployed peacekeepers to the troubled African country while its voting record at the UN on Sudan also suggests its ambiguous policy towards Sudan.

China hosts tripartite talks on North Korea
