The clash about CAS
Article Abstract:
The Operation Anaconda, a two-week campaign in Afghanistan during March 2002 has sparked a new debate over Close Air Support (CAS) and has led to a clash between the United States Air Force (USAF) and the Army. Major General Franklin L. Hagenbeck critiqued Anaconda fire support operations and complained about the slow delivery of precision weapons and objections to the procedure for processing CAS requests.

General Ira C. Eaker paved the way for an independent United States Air Force helping shape World War II airpower. Eaker, being the youngest General among General Henry H. Arnold and General Carl A. Spaatz, was a blend of operational talent, leadership, shrewdness and salesmanship.

The clash of the UAV tribes
Article Abstract:
The debate amongst the different arms of the US military over each one's role and mission vis-a-vis UAVs (unmanned aerial vehicles) is discussed. An emerging challenge is airspace control and deconfliction.
