Coming up from the deep, in from the cold
Article Abstract:
The UK Royal Navy (RN) celebrated its 100 years with a continuing repair and recovery program as most of its boats are currently removed from operations. On Jan 31, 2001, the lead boat of a new class of nuclear- powered attack submarine was accepted into service, launching a year-long program of events to celebrate the achievements of the RN's Submarine Service since its inception. After a century, the Submarine Service today faces a crucial and challenging point in its history.
