Cross border activities embroil Venezuela in Colombia conflict
Article Abstract:
An attempt is made to describe the activities of guerrilla and paramilitary groups in the Colombian-Venezuelan border region. A series of cross border incidents between Venezuela and Colombia in 2003 underline the threat posed to regional security by the conflict in Colombia.

Oil fuels border disputes in Caribbean conflict
Article Abstract:
It is estimated that the Guyana-Suriname basin may have as much as 15 billion barrels of oil. The area is located off the coast of South America and the two countries, as well as Venezuela, are engaged in disputes over its borders.
