Cuba remains defiant in face of tightened embargo
Article Abstract:
Cuba's launch in December 2004 of its largest military exercise, 'Bastion 2004', in nearly 20 years has indicated the regime's determination to resist the U.S. pressure for change. This exercise was intended to confirm the effectiveness of the measures in place to adapt the economy to war conditions and perfect the cohesion of control and command organizations at all levels.

Seeds of conflict: security risks of the quest for biofuels
Article Abstract:
Many countries are turning towards production of biofuels to reduce oil consumption. However, conversion of crop lands and unused lands for biofuel crops production could lead to social unrest because of rise in food prices and job losses and conflict with non-state armed groups present in many biofuel producing countries.
