Co-operative battlefield combat identification systems are viewed as a key component in cutting down casualties or fratricide, the biggest killer of coalition troops in recent high-intensity operations. Several technologies solutions are proposed and nations transforming their forces to implement newly assumed commitments within coalitions operations are urgently awaiting guidance from the US on which system to employ.
