Dealing with the Russian 'arsenal of anarchy'
Article Abstract:
The nuclear warheads and WMD facilities left unsecured in Russia by the collapse of the Soviet Union are successfully brought under supervision and control through Russian and international efforts but the easy access to its conventional weaponry by criminal, insurgent and terrorists groups is a big concern to the US government. The November 2005 Lugar-Obama bill that aims to expand the Cooperative Threat Reduction concept of the 1991 Nunn-Lugar Act to include conventional weapons addresses this concern.

Gulf faces convergence of maritime and terrorist threats
Article Abstract:
The defeat of Saddam Hussein and the ongoing war on terrorism has fundamentally altered maritime threats facing many nations, including the Gulf Co-operation Council (GCC) states, leading to rising levels of the dangers of maritime terrorist attacks and piracy linked to international terrorism. The most important requirement to counter maritime security threats is actionable intelligence where countries must develop the means of providing vital information to the user when needed.
