Gator streetfighter: an under-the-horizon capability for the Marine Corps
Article Abstract:
The Ship-To-Objective-Maneuver (STOM) as an implementing concept for the Operational Manuever From the Sea (OMFTS) military strategy involves the deployment of amphibious transports that would operate over the horizon (OTH). It is argued that OTH operations are not the only options available under OMFTS/STOM despite their advantages. The Gator Streetfighter concept addresses the weaknesses of OTH and involves the mobilization of numerous, small, tightly manned ships that would fight close to shore and complement larger, power-projection ships operating farther out to sea.

Effects of tidal currents on Marine Corp small boats and swimmers
Article Abstract:
Vastly sophisticated and improved populsion and watercraft technologies are available to the Marine Corps in 2000, yet many of the environmental factors and surf conditions encountered by the service in training areas worldwide are the same as those that were encountered by the Corps during World War II. Thus, a number of planning considerations regarding tidal currents must be anticipated and accounted for when planning Marine Corps small boat and scout swimmer operations in very shallow coastal waters.
