ESSM enters full-rate production as industry considers future growth
Article Abstract:
The RIM-162 Evolved SeaSparrow Missile (ESSM) developed by Raytheon, which has to be delivered by October 2008 has entered full-rate production after the US Navy signed the contract of $232.7 million with the company to build 368 missiles for Australia, Canada, Norway, Denmark, the Netherlands and US. Raytheon is studying the future growth options of the missile by further improving kinetic performance and replacing the semi-active radar homing guidance section by an active radar seeker.

Navy/Marine air integration u the silence is deafening

The need for integration of Navy and Marine fixed-wing assets with the formal signing of an agreement between the two establishing respective roles and responsibilities has been emphasized. The dependence of the Marine Corps on the Navy for naval gunfire support and the importance of training together as a team have also been highlighted.
