EXPONAVAL in Chile - the first of a series?
Article Abstract:
EXPONAVAL '98 represented the first naval exhibition ever to be held in Latin America. Regional navies and the Chilean government were well represented in this five-day naval exposition, which took place in Valparaiso, Chile, beginning on Dec 1, 1998. More than 70 companies from 18 nations exhibited their products on more than 60 stands. A total of 40 oral papers of generally high quality were presented by speakers from nine countries. Three naval ships visited the exhibition, which was, overall an interesting show.

Submarine family meets in Kiel
Article Abstract:
Submarine manufacturers and submariners from all over the world gathered together at Kiel, Germany, on Sep 14, 1999, for SUBCON '99. The event, which drew over 350 guests, was sponsored by the German Submarine Consortium and other German firms in the field of submarine manufacturing. Speakers at the meeting focused on the long history of submarine manufacturing in Germany and its economic importance to the city of Kiel.
