The new shape of ships
Article Abstract:
The new alternative hulls are being used by the present day ships like the US Navy's DD(X) destroyer and Littoral Combat Ship (LCS). The advantages and limitations of the new hull forms like the wave-piercing tumblehome of DD(X) and the alternative semi-planning and trimaran hulls for the LCS are discussed.

The naval Internet being promoted by the US Navy is probably the only practical approach to command and control for pick-up coalition forces. The key to success is however, not only providing the required technology, but in understanding the great variety of naval operating philosophies represented by different Navies, and selling all of them on the used US philosophy, which emphasizes the commonly agreed tactical picture.
