European air-to-air missile programmes (I)

Article Abstract:

The UK is at a crossroads regarding its BVRAAM (Beyond Visual Range Air- to-Air Missile) program. The country is faced with two choices: to go ahead with the program alone, or wait for a joint European program to be launched in the future. If it chooses the former, the UK still has to decide between the US FMRAAM and the European METEOR solutions. The UK is expected to select a contractor by the end of 1999.
