The MACCS: where we are--where we are going
Article Abstract:
The most important development in the field of Marine air command and control systems (MACCS) happened not in equipment evolution but in the establishment of a focused chain of command. Established in 1996, the MACCS operational advisory group is chaired by the commanding general of the 3d Marine Aircraft Wing (MAW) with the four Marine air control group as voting members. Originally tasked with standardizing the tactical air command centers in the four MAWs, its duties has been expanded to include all MACCS issues.

Marines are dying!
Article Abstract:
Statistics posted on the Naval Safety Center web site revealed that 291 Marines were killed in nonoperational mishaps during the 5-year period ending 30 September 2005. Hence the Marine Corps is taking several steps to bring safety to the forefront of every Marine's daily activity by ensuring that ground safety officers (GSOs) at the battalion level are properly integrated into organizational fighting force.
