Fatah struggles in Palestine
Article Abstract:
Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas has infuriated the Israelis by releasing four members of the fundamentalist Islamic Jihad faction who were held on suspicion of bombing an Israeli bar in February 2005 and has appeased the Islamists by executing four convicted murderers. The Fatah movement is struggling in Palestine and it is in the midst of a self-destructive internal struggle, dangerously split between Abbas and the movement's Old Guard, which is made of Yasser Arafat's allies.
