Flat trajectory rockets: bunker busters' how to stop 'em
Article Abstract:
To counter the attacks on combined action platoon (CAP) units by the Viet Cong (VC) authority in 1967, especially through the use of rocket propelled grenades (RPG) and assault rifles, chicken wire angled back at the bunkers at approximately 70 degrees was used. The rocket fins would engage unbroken strands of wire resulting in a deflection in the downward direction, leaving the target unscathed.
