Free flight
Article Abstract:
"Free Flight," a new concept in civil airspace management, will move air traffic control toward the cockpit and away from the ground. The concept will eventually allow aircraft operators to select their own speeds, altitudes and direct routes while flying. As the air traffic is gaining at a rate of 5% to 10% annually, the civil aviation community is substantially upgrading its air traffic management system with digital data communications, high-technology automation in oceanic airspace and a worldwide navigation satellite system.

Article Abstract:
Swedish company Saab AB has embraced new military ideas which are triggered by revolutionary concepts in military affairs. Saab has taken the revolution in military affairs to mean integration of defense hardware in terms of a system of systems. The resulting company is intended to become a dominant defense conglomerate.
