Germany meets asymmetric threat
Article Abstract:
The US Navy's Aegis destroyer USS Cole (DDG 67) that arrived at a refueling stop in the Yemeni part of Aden was attacked by terrorists when a small boat loaded with explosives exploded beside the ship. In response to such terrorist threats, the German Navy is rapidly changing from an escort navy to an expeditionary navy.
