Ground-based weapon platforms - a technology overview
Article Abstract:
The development of servo-controlled and stabilized weapon platforms is slowly catching up with the rapid advances of other defense technologies. Two dominant platform configurations of the type which requires pan and tilt motion are the yoke ("Y") and "T-bar" types. Amomg the innovative designs currently in the market are the Radamec yoke director used in the RAPIER missile system, the Type 309L lightweight platform for land-mobile and fixed surveillance system, the Type 429 heavy duty precision dual-axis director and the Type 459 director used in long-range surveillance system.
