Guarding America: Issues facing the army national guard at home and abroad
Article Abstract:
National Guard, the US's preeminent military domestic response force rapidly fielded the largest military response to a domestic emergency for rescuing people affected by the hurricane Katrina. A short description on the effort made by the National Guard in war in Iraq its shortcomings in the equipping of Guard units for homeland security and defense during Katrina and its overseas combat deployments is presented.

The last mounted cavalry charge: Luzon 1942
Article Abstract:
Lt. Edwin P. Ramsey set out with two horse-mounted columns of the 26th Cavalry (Philippine Scouts) on January 16, 1942 after getting orders from Lt. Gen. Jonathan M. Wainwright to occupy a strategic coastal village on Luzon Island and hold it until American and Filipino troops arrived. Military historians have recorded the 26th Cavalry's engagement at Morong as the last horse-mounted charge in the US history.
