Hong Kong faces flak over national security legislation
Article Abstract:
Critics have stated the need for new national security legislation for Hong Kong, a constitutional requirement on practical grounds since the existing legislation is a threat to civil liberties and is found to affect ChinaEs influence on the former colonyEs domestic affairs. Thus, the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) government is attempting to propose new norms by reviewing its proposals in the light of taking public concerns into account.

Beijing's internet censorship
Article Abstract:
China, having the second largest number of internet users in the world, is making efforts toward filtering internet content and monitoring internet users. Although some of this effort is directed toward filtering out pornography and commercial spam, much is aimed at controlling dissident political views and as the country's internet user population grows, more information is likely to slip through the net.

Europe considers ending Chinese arms embargo

Both Beijing and European defense companies are hoping that the European Union (EU) will lift the ban on the sale of the arms, which was imposed following the Tiananmen Square incident in 1989, as China is forging closer links with the EU.
