Article Abstract:
Israel Aircraft Industries (IAI) is a state-owned company with 14,000 employees and 13 business units. Its net profits in 1999 amounted to $70 million, a 70.7% increase from its profits in 1998. As much as 80% of its products are exported to 85 countries around the world. IAI is not dependent on the Israeli government for financial support, including expenses for R&D activities. Among its recent activities is the successful development and testing of the Arrow II interceptor missile.

Steyr-Daimler-Puch of Vienna, Austria, specializes in the design and manufacture of wheeled and tracked armored fighting vehicles used by armies around the world, including 700 units in service with NATO countries. Its latest products are the ASCOD tracked infantry fighting vehicle and the PANDUR wheeled armored personnel carrier. The ASCOD is equipped with a two-man turret armed with a 30mm Mauser cannon and a 7.62mm coaxial machine gun.
