India to increase spending "to enhance national security."(defense spending)

India's Defense Minister has anounced that the country's defense spending will be increased for national security reasons. The navy will be included in the spending plans, with orders placed for French submarines and Russian ships. Equipment details are discussed.

Australia to upgrade Adelaide-class ships, eyes UAV fleet
Article Abstract:
The royal Australian navy (RAN) will upgrade four Adelaide-class frigates under a $402.5 million program. Request for a fleet of tactical unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) that are capable of launching in a variety of ways is expected to finalize by July 2004.
