Integrating South Africa's air-defenses
Article Abstract:
The three-phase Ground Based Air Defense System (GBADS) of the South African National Defense Force that took of in September 2002 is on track with Denel Kentron chosen as the prime contractor for the GBADS Local Warning System (LWS) in the first phase. In phase two and three there are plans to upgrade a battery of Oerlikon twin-35mm GDF gun mounts and these would be fitted on to Advanced Hit Efficiency And Destruction programmable fragmenting ammunitions.

Russia rising
Article Abstract:
Russia has become more stable and richer during the Putin era and this had brought a kind of assertiveness in its attitude towards the U.S. and the West. However, though President Putin has blasted the U.S. and the UN in the recent past it is wrong to assume that Russia is once again going to be an imperial power ready for confrontation with the West like Cold War.
