The National Liberation Army, made up of ethnic Albanians in Macedonia, grew from a force of 200 to 5,000 in the span of just a few months as the Macedonian government's bombing of villages brought in new recruits. The government has averted a civil war by finalizing a peace agreement that contains several politcal concessions.
