Article Abstract:
The vicious violence between the and Fatah is escalating confirming the deep divisions in Palestine society evident since the death of Yasser Arafat in 2003. Egyptian mediators are trying to find some common ground between the two sides but the fighting raises the possibility of a more permanent split developing between Gaza and the West Bank, with Hamas controlling the former and Fatah controlling the latter.
