Unravelling strategies of deception and perception in the Iraq crisis
Article Abstract:
Iraq engaged in strategic deception to convertly develop its weapons of mass destruction capabilities before 1991 and subsequently to disguise its true capability which was aimed to confuse and delay decision-making in the international community. The roles played by Iraqi deception strategies and UK and US disinformation operations in the run-up to the 2003 invasion of Iraq are examined and the lessons for future counterproliferation efforts are explored.
