Italy's new JSF-capable carrier
Article Abstract:
Fincantieri has received a $780-million contract for the construction of a 26,500-ton full load displacement aircraft carrier for the Italian Navy. The aircraft carrier is to be designed both with the Joint Strike Fighter and with joint amphibious missions in mind. The contract for the construction of the Nuova Unita Maggiore's ship system and certain combat systems should be passed officially early in 2001.
