Like a Phoenix
Article Abstract:
The Aerospace Maintenance and Regeneration Center (AMRC) in the Arizona desert is a place of renewal for many aircrafts, as symbolized by the mission's emblem of a stylized Phoenix rising to new life. At AMRC, airframes and aircraft parts are preserved for three different types of later use, a return to flying, for spare parts, or for eventual disposal.

The Wright Bros. Cycle Co., a bicycle shop in Dayton, Ohio, gave the world the gift of powered, sustained, controlled, and heavier-than-air flight. On February 10, 1908, the Aeronautical Division of the Army's Signal Corps accepted the Wrights' bid to provide the first military flying machine.

USAF Pleads Case for F/A-22

The US Air Force (USAF) is promoting the stealthy 170 F/A-22 Raptors to the Congress and industry for funding. The USAF wants 381 F/A-22s to support 10 squadrons of 24 each.
