Lineal standing and The Basic School
Article Abstract:
The permanent assignment of lineal precedence for US Marine Corps officers is outdated as it is assigns their precedence according to overall class average at The Basic School (TBS) and does not account for an officer's ability to perform in the Operating Forces. A more viable means should be used to assess a Marine's potential than referencing a grade point average by creating a method to reward exceptional accomplishment and penalize those who maintain the status quo, thereby fostering a more competitive nature amongst all officers to achieve.
