Lockheed Martin reshapes electronics sector

Lockheed Martin is streamlining its operations to provide a more cohesive approach to the the US and international military markets. The company's realignment plan involves the integration of different defense electronics firms under two major new companies, namely, Lockheed Martin Naval Electronics and Surveillance Systems and Lockheed Martin Aerospace Electronics Systems. A further objective in realigning its companies is to sharpen customer focus for better service.

Navy gives Northrop Grumman green light on Hawkeye 2000
Article Abstract:
Northrop Grumman Corp's Integrated Systems and Aerostructures Sector has won a $1.3-billion, five-year Naval Air Systems Command contract to produce 22 E-2C Hawkeye 2000 radar early warning aircraft. The first production Hawkeye is slated for delivery in Oct 2001, while initial operational capability is expected in late 2002. The improvements on the Hawkeye include a mission computer upgrade that features the use of advanced control indicator sets for workstations.

China accepts LM NE&SS VTMS system for Qiongzhou
Article Abstract:
Lockheed Martin Naval Electronics and Sensor Systems (LM NE and SS) of Syracuse, NY, has completed the delivery of a Vessel Traffic Management System (VTMS) to the People's Republic of China (PRC). The VTMS is intended for use in the Qiongzhou Channel located between the southern coast of Mainland China and Hainan Island. LM NE and SS was awarded the $3-million contract for the VTMS under a teaming deal with the PRC's 28th Research Institute.
