MCM live - Operation Open Spirit '98
Article Abstract:
Operation Open Spirit '98 involved a joint minesweeping exercise by German, Belgian and Netherlands ships along the north coast of Estonia. The exercise was conducted to train participating mine counter measures (MCM) forces and to clear Estinian waters of the dormant threat of mines. The results of the operation clearly indicated that different mine fields existed in the area, and show that a considerable amount of MCM remains to be done.
