The elections: Step 3, protect the voting sites
Article Abstract:
The American soldiers bolstered defenses around voting sites as the elections neared to protect voters and give Iraqi forces the best chance for success. The site-hardening mission was started at the last minute to minimize tipping off their locations to anti-Iraqi forces and voting sites were made as secure as possible so that the voters could feel safe in the first free elections they have ever known.

The success of the Iraqi elections revived hopes in a troubled land, but success was not obtained easily, as it was attained with lots of planning, preparation and hard work. An American correspondent recounts his experience of elections in the war torn Iraq, which was a huge success mainly due to the American soldiers hard work.
