New bombings fuel Thai security fears
Article Abstract:
Southern Thailand's Islamist insurgents have opened a sustained campaign of bomb attacks, striking 'soft' urban targets and raising the prospect of greater civilian casualties. The bombing wave is interpreted as an indication of insurgent desperation as the authorities advance on key instigators of the unrest, though alarm over the intensity of the campaign is palpable both within the security forces and beyond.
