Myanmar leads rise in Southeast Asian drug trade
Article Abstract:
Most Southeast Asia's illicit narcotics originate from Myanmar, the world's second main source of opium after Afghanistan and also Asia's primary supplier of amphetamine-type stimulants, manufacturing hundreds of millions of tablets each year has contributed to growing social stability. Several factors that account for the proliferating drug trade from and within Southeast Asia are presented.

Infectious disease and the threat to national security
Article Abstract:
The World Health Organization estimates that as many as one-third of the worldwide deaths are caused by infections diseases, and the US National Intelligence Council has recognized such diseases as a security threat. The threat, and its implications, are discussed.
