P-3 Orion upgrades; multimission maritime aircraft
Article Abstract:
The US Navy is faced with the challenge of maintaining a viable mmaritime patrol aviation force in the face of rapidly aging P-3C Orion aircraft due to the cancellation of the P-3 Sustained Readiness Program (SRP). The growing costs of the SRP has resulted in its shutdown but parts from its kits will be used to refurbish P-3s going through depot-level maintenance. Options on how to sustain the P-3C force includes a service-life extension program which owuld involve remanufacturing the aircraft.

Navy MNA study contracts awards to four companies

Lockheed Martin, Raytheon AIS, Boeing, and Northrop Grumman earned contracts to study replacement or modification of the Orion P-3 and the EP-3E aircraft.

Navy aircraft managers refine requirements in post-Iraq era
Article Abstract:
The US defense officials and naval aircraft managers are designing the aircraft and weapons in post-Iraq era, which transforms the current armed forces to a more mobile, precise and persistent force. Boeing and Lockheed Martin, competitors for the Multimission Maritime Aircraft (MMA) program, are refining their proposals for the selection decision that is expected in January 2004.
