Defense ministries and intelligence agencies worldwide have routine access to high-quality space-based imagery, suitable for applications ranging from strategic planning to support of tactical operations. The US government spends between US $35 billion and US $40 billion a year on space-related products and services, allowing it access to information of the highest quality from space, and the ability to accurately measure the dimensions of military equipment.
