Observer-controller power lunch
Article Abstract:
The Army assigns observers-controllers (OCs) to monitor carefully designed mission rehearsal exercises at the Combat Manuever Training Center in Hohenfels, Germany. An interview with Capt Augustus Dawson indicates that OCs' jobs are interesting but they literally live and eat out of Humvee armored vehicles. According to Dawson, OCs teach soldiers to be extremely sensitive to what is happening around them during Kosovo peacekeeping missions and to become well acquainted with the communities they are serving. OCs who have not been deployed to Kosovo before being assigned to the center are sent there for several weeks to ride along with their counterparts.
