The Commanding General, Marine Corps Combat Development Command (MCCEDC) in 1998 published United States Marine Corps Century, which provided the 12 concepts that collectively articulated the operational capabilities that were sought to achieve. These concepts served as a framework for the ongoing process of innovation and capability development.
