PIRANHA for Danish peacekeepers
Article Abstract:
The Technical Service of the Danish Army has selected the MOWAG PIRANHA III 8x8 vehicle for the service units assigned to UN peacekeeping missions. The order comes after a series of competitive tests and evaluations and calls for an initial batch of two vehicles for further operational trials, with options for another 20. All the MOWAG PIRANHAs will undergo reconfiguration into APCs, with a cupola-mounted 12.7mm HMG. MOWAG sees the Danish order as crucial in its entry into a new market for vehicles specifically tailored for peacekeeping operations.
